Road Update….πŸšœβ„οΈ Snow Removal Update – Fairbanks Area β„οΈπŸšœ

Hey, #Fairbanks,
Our crews were hard at work again last night! Priority 1 routes were plowed, along with:
β€’ Chena Hot Springs Road (8–56)
β€’ Chena Pump/Ridge
β€’ Airport Frontage Road (Noble to Geraghty)

Sidewalks on Davis Road have also been started. Our contractor completed Priority 3 and 4 routes around midnight.

Today’s Plan:
βœ”οΈ Plow Priority 1 routes again
βœ”οΈ Continue with Priority 2 routes
βœ”οΈ Address remaining Priority 3 and 4 routes impacted by the storm
βœ”οΈ Sidewalk contractor beginning additional sidewalk clearing

While we’ve made good progress, road conditions remain difficult. Large snow berms and reduced lane widths are significantly impacting mobility.

🌬️ Winds are increasing (10–20 mph forecasted), causing drifting and reduced visibility. Conditions may deteriorate throughout the day.

⚠️ Before you travel, check current road conditions at 511.alaska.gov or dial 511 for the latest updates. Conditions can change quickly β€” stay informed and plan accordingly.

Please use caution, slow down, and give plow operators plenty of room to work.

More Snow……break out the Price Is Right and the Atari 2600!Due to heavy snowfall and difficult road conditions, with the heaviest snowfall expected tonight, all schools and extracurricular activities are CANCELED tomorrow, Tuesday, February 24. We are making this decision the night before to give families as much time as possible to plan.

Road conditions across the borough are difficult. Student and staff safety is always our top priority when making weather-related decisions, and canceling school is never a decision we take lightly. The district consults with multiple sources, including road crews and transportation staff, to assess conditions across our large geographic area before making a determination.

School will resume as scheduled on Wednesday unless otherwise communicated. Additional information will be shared if conditions change.

We also want to extend our sincere appreciation to the snow removal crews who have been working long hours to improve road conditions across the community.
