Our hearts are with our neighbors, friends and families, including our employees and employees of business partners, who have been impacted by the Tok/Mukluk Fire. For those who have lost their homes, we know the road ahead will be difficult, and we want our community to know that we are here to help.

Kinross Manh Choh is working closely with local representatives and community members to provide $2,500 in direct financial assistance to each household that has lost their home in the fire. More information on how impacted residents can connect with this support will be shared soon.

We will also continue supporting emergency response efforts alongside our business partners and the many firefighters, first responders and volunteers working tirelessly to protect our communities.

This is a community that takes care of its own, and we are proud to stand alongside our neighbors when it matters most.

Good advice from the UAF Police Department. In the words of Roz from Monster’s Inc….. someone’s "watching…..always watching"Back to school season is here, and those adorable first day of school signs are everywhere! We love celebrating these milestones but we also want to remind everyone to think twice before sharing them online.

Many of these signs include personal details like your child’s full name, age, teacher, school, grade, height, favorite things, and more. While most people online have good intentions, not everyone does. That information can be used by someone with harmful intentions.

Before you hit “post,” take a moment to cover or remove any identifying information. Better yet, snap a photo that simply celebrates the moment without revealing personal details.

A few simple changes can go a long way in protecting your child. Safe is always better. 💙

Who remembers the last Arctic Winter Games in Fairbanks? What a great time and a great event! BE A PART OF IT! You can volunteer to help!!OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE: Office of FNSB Mayor Grier Hopkins!

Today in the Assembly Chambers, Fairbanks North Star Borough Mayor Grier Hopkins and representatives of the Arctic Winter Games International Committee signed the Host Agreement for the 2028 Arctic Winter Games! ❄️ ❄️ ❄️ ❄️

The 2028 Arctic Winter Games will be held in Fairbanks in March 2028, bringing 1000s of athletes and participants from across the circumpolar North to the community for a week of competition, cultural exchange and celebration.

The Host Agreement outlines the respective responsibilities of the Fairbanks North Star Borough and the 2028 Arctic Winter Games Host Society, a nonprofit organization established to organize and host the Games.

With the agreement in place, preparations for the 2028 Games will continue to ramp up. Over the next 18 months, the Borough and Host Society will work together to select and prepare venues, recruit community volunteers and coordinate the many logistical details necessary to successfully host the Arctic Winter Games.

“The Arctic Winter Games are an incredible opportunity to showcase Fairbanks and bring the circumpolar North together right here in our community,” said Borough Mayor Grier Hopkins. “This agreement marks an important step forward as we prepare to welcome athletes, coaches, families and visitors from across the North in 2028.”

The Arctic Winter Games are an international celebration of northern sports and culture, bringing together young athletes from the circumpolar regions to compete, build friendships and share their traditions.
